Stories
I am a celebrant, a counsellor and I am a writer and believe me, the three are intimately connected. My tagline for my celebrant work is ‘beautiful ceremonies, written for you’. I was highly praised on my course for my writing ability and I think it is as important as my ability to deliver ceremonies and to listen fully to my ceremony clients.
A ceremony is a story. The story of someone’s life. The story of a relationship. The story of why someone was given, or chose, their name. A story that has to be told beautifully, truthfully, authentically and well. And this is how I tell those stories. How I commit to telling all those stories. Both in the words and in the delivery. I am excited to do it. Excited to do it well, as I know I will.
My work as a counsellor is also about stories. Listening fully as someone tells and retells their story. Time after time. Adding bits and taking bits away. Recasting their story in new lights. Rewriting it until it suits the life they want now. Giving themself the main character energy. Knowing that they deserve it, are worthy of it.
My novels are stories. Now they are small, are growing. When they are fully grown, they will fly out into the world to find their new homes. I can’t wait to see where they go and what becomes of them.
If you need a writer, if you need a celebrant, if you need a counsellor or if someone you know needs any of those things, I hope you’ll get in touch.
My shout out today goes to all those who trust me to hear their stories and trust me to tell their stories. You know I’ll handle you with care. And I’ll tell your story with love.
If I can help you by hearing your story and walking with you to retell it in a way that makes sense and helps you move forward, then please do get in touch.
